Led by Squadron Commander Roland “Bee” Beamont, Typhoons of 609 Squadron scramble from their base at Manston in April 1943. The Typhoon was arguably the greatest ground attack aircraft of the war, and wreaked havoc upon German armour and transports in the weeks and months following D-Day.
